Facing Hailstorms and Hurricanes: TNC 2.0 Debuts in Three Australian Cities, Safeguarding a Net-Zero Future

On August 21, Tongwei, together with Blue Sun Group, successfully concluded its roadshow event in Melbourne. This marked the third stop following the themed events held in Brisbane (June) and Sydney (July). Centered on the theme of “Mission Zero-Carbon,” the event showcased Tongwei’s latest technologies and solutions in the clean energy sector, attracting numerous experts and partners from across the photovoltaic industry.

During the event, Tongwei highlighted the TNC 2.0 G12R-48 module, demonstrating its powerful advantages to the Australian market. As one of the most important PV markets globally, Australia faces unique climate challenges, particularly frequent hailstorms and hurricanes. Ensuring efficiency and stability of PV systems under such conditions has become a key concern for the industry.

The TNC 2.0 G12R-48 module was specifically designed to address these challenges. With its dual-glass design and 2.0mm heat-strengthened glass, the module offers outstanding resistance to wind and hail.

Hail Resistance: In testing, the module withstood hailstones up to 45mm in diameter traveling at 30.8 m/s—equivalent to the impact of a golf ball—showcasing excellent durability under extreme condition.

Wind & Hurricane Resistance: Thanks to its reinforced dual-glass structure, the front load capacity increased from 5400Pa to 6000Pa, and the rear load capacity from 2400Pa to 4000Pa (a nearly 67% improvement). This allows the module to resist wind speeds of 167.76 km/h, equivalent to a Category 15 typhoon, ensuring stable operation even in extreme climates.

Cyclone Certification: The TNC 2.0 G12R-48 module has also passed cyclone testing at Australia’s Albright Laboratory, certifying it for installation in Australia’s Zone D (severe cyclone region).

Beyond its durability, the TNC 2.0 G12R-48 module also delivers exceptional power generation performance. With its high-power, high-efficiency design, it ensures greater energy output in sun-rich regions, further boosting long-term system returns and investment value.

From Brisbane to Sydney, and now Melbourne, Tongwei and Blue Sun Group continue to bring high-efficiency, reliable PV solutions to Australian customers — driving the region’s transition toward green energy.
